The First Shakedown Cruise

On Thursday, "Mercy" was on the yard, scheduled to be splashed on Friday.  Doug Rudolph and I went from the Annapolis Sailyard (the Nordic Tug dealer) via water taxi, across Spa Creek to the Annapolis Boat Show.  What a fun day!  What a great time to need to outfit a boat, during the Annapolis, Sailboat Show, the Baltimore Trawlerfest, and the US Powerboat Show!  At the end of the day, we returned by water taxi, and I lifted up my hand to point out to Rudy where our slip was going to be, and behold, there sat the boat, splashed and waiting for us.  We had just stepped aboard and couldn't get the stupid grin off my face!

For the last couple of days, we've been loading gear on the vessel, cleaning up, and making minor repairs.  The boat has been dormant for awhile, waiting for a home back in the water!

After spending the morning trying unsucessfully to repair electrical issues,  I made the executive decision that we MUST get underway.  We were able to charge our house battery banks back up, cruise for a couple of hours, and do anchor drills with both anchors, getting the kinks out of the chain, and seeing how much chain and line was aboard.

This is Sandy Point Shoal Light, a little north of Annapolis.

On our return, we grilled chicken and ate a great meal, enjoying some really great weather and food. Tomorrow we'll be back working on the charging system.
