Dataw Island Marina to Beaufort, SC

Friday, 8 November, 2015

This morning we walked around the gorgeous Dataw Island.  Everyone we saw (there were a lot of folks walking dogs, or headed to the golf course in golf carts, or bicycles) was very friendly.  It was southern hospitality at its best!  The grounds are kept immaculately, and it looked like a great place to live.  I stopped and picked a handful of pecans from under a good tasting tree.  (True southerners will understand this... You don't pick up pecans until you know the tree's crop tastes good!)

The marina staff was fantastic, attentive, and helpful.

After we had enjoyed a long walk with the dogs, and did some blog photo updates via the wifi, we got underway around noon for a short trip to Beaufort, SC.

The weather was perfect, and their was a following current.

In short order we grabbed a mooring in Beaufort. We opted to take a carriage tour with a GREAT tour guide, who brought the town's history to life.

After the tour, we met our friends on the Rash Decision, and went to supper at the Bull. The food was good, but, it was Friday, a bar sitting, and loud enough we couldn't visit much.

We went back to the boat, picked up the dinghy, and called it an early night.
