Rudder Cut Cay to Lee Stocking Cay

Saturday, June 1

Because of the SE wind, we timed our departure after the tide had started in. Actually, we waited a little after that, since Scott needed a little more tide to get out of where he was anchored.

The cut south of Rudder Cut Cay wasn't too bad going out, and the ride down to Adderly Cut, at Lee Stocking Island was pretty nice. The sailboats might not have liked motoring into the wind, but I always prefer it to a beam sea!

We each grabbed a mooring at the deserted Marine Research Institute, and snorkeled them, since no one is maintaining them any more. Three of the five were still in excellent shape. I wouldn't moor to the other two. I did however put the Whaler on one of them for the night.

John, Scott, and I went into hunt, gather mode. We drift snorkeled behind Norman's Pond Cay, and burned more calories than we gathered, as we only found 3 legal sized conch. I was so disappointed, as I had my heart set on eating cracked conch.

That isn't to say that it wasn't loads of fun. The water was phenomenally clear, though it seemed cold. We stopped for a minute to show the guys the underwater cave on the northwest corner of Norman's Pond Cay. There are so many wonderful little places.

Fortunately, my hunger turned to delight as Scott cleaned the conch, and John made some excellent conch salad. We ate grilled burgers to make up for our hunter/gatherer shortcomings, along with some steamed brocolli...mmmm.

We ate on the Full Deck. I can't believe all the living space on the catamaran. We hid from no see ums in air conditioned delight. Another beautiful day in paradise.
